A motorist rammed the back end of a skid steer loader on a western Wisconsin highway and was killed, authorities said Tuesday.

The collision occurred on northbound Hwy. JJ in Kinnickinnic Township, about 12 miles southeast of Hudson, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.

Killed in the late Monday afternoon crash was Duane Cernohous, 55, of nearby River Falls, who was taken by air ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The Sheriff's Office said it appears that Cernohous was not wearing a seat belt at the time of impact.

The skid steer loader's operator, 26-year-old Amy Nederhiser, of River Falls, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, the Sheriff's Office said.
