Celia Kuenster, the Class 3A girls' individual co-champion as a freshman this spring at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, leads the 40th Women's State Amateur after the second of three days at Hastings Country Club.

Kuenster, who also won the state junior girls' golf title last month, shot her second consecutive 1-over-par 74 on Wednesday, giving her a five-shot lead over Ashli Helstrom of Mesaba Country Club and Kristen Wagner of Baker National Golf Course. Kuenster is representing Somerset Country Club.

Betsy Kelly (Forest Hills Golf Club) and Natalie Samb (Legends Club), who shared the first-round lead with Kuenster, fell back into the pack.

The 18-hole final round is Thursday. The leaders will tee off at noon.

Saints take series finale from Kansas City Adam Frost's two-run single broke a tie in the bottom of the eighth inning and Kyle Foster earned his second victory in as many nights as the St. Paul Saints (41-29) defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 7-3 at Midway Stadium.

Canterbury announces new dates Extreme Race Day at Canterbury Park, which features exhibition races by camels and ostriches, was rescheduled for Aug. 6. Labor Day, Sept. 5, will feature free hot dogs and a weiner dog race. The revised schedule also includes six additional race dates, with the season now ending Sept. 11.
