Dance artist probes Brazil's history of slavery
Brazilian-American choreographer Marciano Silva dos Santos brings an effervescent voice to the Minnesota scene, creating works with emotional range and depth as well as profound joy. And he's a marvel to watch as a performer, matching skill with a glowing stage presence. For Contempo Physical Dance's latest concert, dos Santos shows off his choreography and dance chops with a new solo titled "Lágrima Fora do Lugar (Tear Out of Place)." The piece is about Brazil's settlements of escaped slaves (known as quilombo).
