Fast-paced flips

Houses in Minneapolis and St. Paul are the stars of HGTV's new series "Five Day Flip." You might just recognize a property in your neighborhood. Cherie Barber, the host and renovator, and her crew reinvent outdated dwellings with cosmetic upgrades and other high-impact improvements in just five days. To save time and cost, she refinishes and reuses hardwood floors, vintage wood trim and light fixtures. "Five Day Flip" also offers staging tips from the Eden Prairie business Showhomes as Barber prepares the properties to list for sale. In "Adding Room, Designer Details," Barber turns a cramped 1970s kitchen in St. Paul into a soapstone-clad cook's dream, 10 p.m. March 3. "Luxury Finishes a Family Home" shows how Barber creates a modern marble kitchen and restyles an outdated fireplace in a four-level Minneapolis home, 10 p.m. March 10. Go to hgtv.com for a schedule of repeated episodes.
