CBS misjudged how late its coverage of the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open would go Sunday, with golf eating into CBS's coverage of the Grammys red carpet preshow.

CBS' "Grammy Red Carpet Live" show was set to start at 6:30 ET/3:30 PT. As viewers who tuned in to CBS or looked to stream the red carpet coverage on CBS' online streaming service, CBS All Access, found themselves watching golf long after the red carpet show's start time. CBS finally switched over to its live Grammys red carpet show some 38 minutes after its scheduled start time.

The trouble was that the Farmers Insurance Open went into a three-way playoff near its end, pushing the tournament well over its scheduled end time. CBS' feed continued to suffer even after it switched to "Grammy Red Carpet Live," with a few freezes and out-of-sync audio plaguing the live stream.

The Famers Insurance Open was a big deal in the world of golf, not only because it's a part of the PGA Tour. It also saw the return of Tiger Woods to the PGA Tour for the first time in three years.

Woods didn't make it to the three-way playoff that pushed the golf tournament to push into the Grammys' slated red carpet time, though. Swedish golfer Alex Noren, Australian player Jason Day and American player Ryan Palmer were responsible for Grammys fans missing the red carpet on CBS, each scoring 10 under par in the regulation 72 holes of golf in the tournament. Woods finished at three under par.

Needless to say, viewers ready to watch the Grammys, and see their favorite artists dolled up in high fashion walking the red carpet, weren't pleased that they were stuck watching golf for almost 40 minutes. Viewers were also none too happy that the red carpet coverage they did get was greatly cut short, thanks to commercials. Many took to Twitter to express their displeasure with CBS.
