It was 7 a.m. Sunday, one day after Minnesota's traditional firearms deer season opened, when this 8-point brute with a 20-inch inside spread walked into the open below a deer stand between Parkers Prairie and Bertha. Coen Johnson, 11, of Milaca, was nudged by his mother inside the stand. "Coen!'' she whispered. "Buck!" He eased his rifle out the window and grunted to get the deer to stop. It worked. He squeezed the trigger and waited for the arrival of his grandfather, Dennis Jezierski. He found the buck less than 100 yards away.
