An armed man with "a distinctively British accent" robbed an Uptown bank in Minneapolis and remained at large Sunday, authorities said.

The holdup occurred about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday at the TCF Bank branch at 1444 W. Lake St., just west of Hennepin Avenue, the FBI said in a statement.

The man approached the teller, displayed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash, the FBI said.

"The robber spoke with a distinctively British accent and fled from the bank on foot" with an undisclosed amount of cash, the FBI's statement read.

The robber was described as white, 45 to 50 years old, 5- foot-10 in height and weighing 160 to 175 pounds. He wore a dark red and light red-striped cap, with ear flaps, yarn extensions and a puffy ball on top.

He was also said to be wearing a black neck gaiter, a puffy navy blue coat and blue jeans.

The FBI considers the man armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the FBI at 763-569-8000 or Minneapolis police at 612-692-8477.
