University of Minnesota police say they are looking for a man armed with a knife who robbed a couple at a bus stop late at night, took their valuables and made the two strip before ordering them to run from the scene.

The crime occurred about 4:45 a.m. July 3 in front of Blegen Hall, located just off Washington Avenue SE. on the West Bank campus, according to a crime alert issued Wednesday by university police.

"The suspect showed a knife and demanded their valuables," read the alert, accompanied by four surveillance photos of the suspect. "He made both victims undress and told them to run."

The 23-year-old victims are a woman from Fridley and a man from Brooklyn Park, according to police. The man attended the university starting in the spring of 2014 and was last enrolled in the fall of 2016, a university spokesman said. The spokesman disclosed no connection between the woman and the university.

Police describe the suspect as black, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-9, with a bald head and facial hair on his chin. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, red gym shoes, black-rimmed glasses, a black watch on his left wrist and a bracelet on his right wrist. He was carrying a dark backpack. His knife was a flip style with a black handle, police said. It had a silver blade with three holes.
