The Metropolitan Airports Commission operates MSP but it's a little-known foundation that is the force behind many of the details that make it pleasant. The nonprofit Airport Foundation oversees the Minnesota-centric arts exhibits and the 148 hanging flower baskets visitors see as they drive up. They train and oversee the hundreds of volunteers who help passengers navigate the terminal, find ground transportation or overnight accommodations. The foundation brings in volunteers with therapy dogs, so travelers can stop for a little stress-reducing petting.
