United FC at a glance: The Loons defeated Ottawa 2-1 in Minneapolis last Saturday to extend their NASL unbeaten streak to eight games. Forward Christian Ramirez scored in the fourth minute. The Fury came back in the 50th minute with a goal by Sinisa Ubiparipovic, but Ottawa conceded a penalty in the 60th minute after a foul in the box, and Ramirez converted for the victory. The spring champions are 3-1-0 in the fall season, second to San Antonio, which has played one more game.

FC Edmonton at a glance: The Canadian side played the New York Cosmos to a scoreless tie on the road Thursday. Eddies starting midfielder Milton Blanco was injured in a collision with a Cosmos player and had to be replaced before the 20-minute mark. Edmonton went down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes when forward Tomi Ameobi earned a red card. Edmonton lost 1-0 to the Loons in the spring season, when it finished sixth. It is 1-2-2 for five points in the fall season, seventh in the NASL standings.
