One person was killed and another critically wounded Saturday evening in a shooting in St. James, Minn.

According to St. James police, a female was shot to death and another wounded at 5:41 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue S. Police have not released the names or ages of the victims.

The injured female was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, police said.

They provided no further details of the shooting, but in a news release said, "There is no threat to the general public."

St. James, population about 4,600, is the county seat of Watonwan County, in south-central Minnesota.

The Watonwan County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting police in the investigation.
