A 49-year-old Roseville man was struck by two cars and killed early Friday in St. Paul Park, with one driver fleeing the scene, the State Patrol said.

Phillip L. Cain was walking on Hastings Avenue near Lincoln Avenue when he was struck by a southbound 2008 Ford Taurus, which immediately turned around and returned to the scene, the patrol said. A second vehicle, a 2007 Saab, also struck Cain as he lay in the road, then the driver fled. The Saab and its driver, Gina M. Marrone, 47, of St. Paul Park, were later located and Marrone was arrested.

The Taurus was driven by Michael A. Ramos, 29, of St. Paul Park. The patrol said that Ramos showed no sign of alcohol use, but it is not yet known if Cain or Marrone had been drinking.

On Thursday, a 76-year-old Albert Lea man was killed and a passenger in his vehicle was severely injured when the car they were in went off a southern Minnesota freeway, through a farm field and eventually rolled, the patrol said.

The driver, William Arthur Studer, was believed to have suffered a medical emergency while driving west on Interstate 90 near Hayward, Minn., about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the patrol said.

Studer's Honda CR-V left the freeway, went into the right ditch, entered a farm field and vaulted over County Road 30. The vehicle continued north and vaulted over County Road 46 before it rolled multiple times, the patrol said.

Studer was pronounced dead at the crash scene. He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

Elaine P. Lieb, 80, of Albert Lea, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle after it rolled. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital before she was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester with life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.
